Born in 1920 in Boseong, Jeollanam-do, Yang Sooa (1920–1972) is remembered as a pioneer of Korean Informel. Though he lived through an era of colonization, war, and division, he never put down his brush. This space traces Yang’s trajectory: early illustrations and figurative works from his study in Japan, his postwar years in Mokpo as a teacher and painter, and his later immersion in abstraction in Gwangju.
