Hovhannavank Monastery was founded in the fourth century by St Gregory the Enlightener. A single nave church now attached to the northern wall of the main church is believed to be the earliest structure on the site. The building underwent reconstruction first in the sixth century, and then between 1652 and 1732. The main church of the monastery was built between 1216 and 1221, financed by a donation by Prince Vache Vachutian. © Global Mobile Software LLC. All rights reserved․
